Charlie Hewson

Charlie Hewson was diagnosed with Ewing’s Sarcoma at the age of 9 months, after his parents noticed that his leg was swollen and slightly misshapen. After rigorous chemotherapy, Charlie was facing life as an amputee.

Six months after surgery, Charlie had his first prosthetic leg fitted. Half a year later, he took his first steps alone and now, at the age of nine, he plays football for Brighton and Hove Albion Amputee FC, attends training sessions at the England Football Amputee Association and plays able-bodied football for his local team – this August he competed in a triathlon!

“He continues to amaze us every day with his strength and determination. He is a happy and healthy boy with so much energy and enthusiasm. Nothing stands in his way, he is our inspiration. We will be eternally grateful to everyone involved with not only his care and rehabilitation.”
