Due to Covid-19 referrals are down 40% – we need your support more than ever
During the Covid-19 pandemic, the Royal National Orthopaedic Hospital adapted its services to cope with the demand of the crisis. Although Cancer services are a protected pathway, our referrals are down by 40%, this does not mean that there are fewer cases, more that people worried about going out of the house, that they do not want to be in hospital at the moment or that they do not want to burden an already stretched service. However, in time, they will come forward and as this is such an aggressive cancer we expect to see many advanced stage diagnosis. We are mindful of this, we want to be able to support our patients and, as we have proved since the inception of the charity, we want to be ready to adapt to the changing needs.
